We are delighted to invite Old Eleans from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 to The Ball That Never Was — a long-overdue Leavers’ Ball to honour your time at King’s and mark the ending you never had.
After the disruption of your final months at school, this evening offers the chance to come together, reconnect with friends and teachers, and celebrate the community and memories that shaped your time at The King's School Ely.
The evening will begin with a drinks reception at The Old Palace, where parents are warmly invited to join the Classes of 2020 and 2021 as the celebrations begin. Guests attending the ball will then walk down to The Hayward Theatre for dinner and dancing.
Due to limited capacity, tickets for the ball itself are initially reserved for alumni from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 (including Year 11 leavers of 2018 and 2019). If space allows, a limited number of plus one tickets will be allocated via ballot following the initial booking period.
This promises to be a special occasion to dress up, reminisce, and make new memories with those who shared your King's journey.
Dress Code: Black Tie
Included with your ticket:
Wine may be pre-ordered for tables and a bar will be available for additional drinks.
Capacity: 120 places
Ticketing:
Tickets are partly subsidised, with the ball, dinner and welcome drinks included in your ticket cost. Guests may pre-order wine for their table or purchase drinks from the bar during the evening.
You may either purchase your ticket in full when booking, or secure your place with a deposit and pay the remaining balance in instalments on 1 May and 1 June.
Parents:
As with the traditional King’s Leavers’ Ball, parents are warmly invited to join the drinks reception at The Old Palace at the start of the evening.
This provides an opportunity for families to gather, celebrate the achievements of the Classes of 2020 and 2021, and share in the beginning of the evening before the ball itself begins.
Following the reception, guests attending the ball will make their way to The Hayward Theatre for dinner and dancing, while parents depart.
Plus Ones:
Due to venue capacity, tickets for The Ball That Never Was are initially available to Old Eleans from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 (including Year 11 leavers of 2018 and 2019).
Once alumni bookings have opened, we will review remaining capacity. If space allows, a limited number of plus one tickets will be made available via ballot.
If you would like to bring a guest, please indicate this when completing your registration form by selecting the plus one ballot option. We will confirm whether you have been allocated an additional ticket once alumni bookings have been processed.
Thank you for your understanding as we prioritise places for the Classes of 2020 and 2021.
