It was a true pleasure to welcome members of the Class of 1985 back to King's for a reunion coffee morning, our first hosted by the Development & Alumni Office. The morning was filled with nostalgia, laughter, and a deep sense of connection as old friends reconnected and new memories were made.

The day began at the Old Palace, now home to the Sixth Form since its opening in 2012. Over coffee and homemade cakes, guests enjoyed poring over archival photographs and catching up with familiar faces in a space that beautifully bridges King's past and present.

From there, the group explored some of the school’s newer facilities, including the Art Studios and the Music School. A visit to the Hayward Theatre stirred memories for many, especially with the space currently arranged for exams, a striking reminder of student days long past.

Outside the day houses, the search for carved bricks prompted plenty of laughs. Some alumni walked straight to theirs with confidence, while others debated whether they had ever carved one at all.

The tour continued through the transformed Porta Library, once the Art Classroom in 1985, and concluded at the beloved Monastic Barn. Despite the passing of time, some things haven’t changed: as one alumnus remarked with a smile, “It still smells exactly the same!”

Hosting this reunion was a special moment for us as a team. It was a chance to reflect on the legacy of King's and to witness once again how the spirit of the school lives on in its alumni community. Here’s to many more reunions, shared stories, and moments of reconnection. King's truly does last a lifetime.
